Privacy Policy

• Account data: your name, phone number (verified by WhatsApp OTP), password (stored only as a secure hash), and role (candidate or employer).
• Candidate data: job-alert preferences, contacts you unlock, and your WhatsApp number for alerts.
• Employer data: company details and the hiring contact you choose to share for each job.
• Usage data: jobs viewed, unlocks, reports, and basic technical logs needed to run and secure the service.

We use your data to:

• create and secure your account and verify your phone;
• show listings, process contact unlocks, and send job alerts you opt into;
• connect candidates and employers as described below;
• prevent fraud, spam, and abuse, and enforce our terms;
• meet legal obligations.

The core of SkillJag is a two-sided connection. When a candidate unlocks a job’s hiring contact, we reveal that employer contact’s details to the candidate, and we share the candidate’s name and phone number with the employer as a lead. Both sides consent to this exchange by using the unlock feature, and it should be used only for genuine recruitment.

We share data with service providers who help us operate — for example our hosting and database provider, our WhatsApp messaging provider, and our payment processor — under contracts that limit them to our instructions. We may disclose data where required by law. We do not sell your personal data.

We send OTP codes and, if you opt in, job-alert digests over WhatsApp through an authorised business provider. You can opt out of alerts at any time; OTPs are sent only when you request an action that needs verification.

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, after which we delete or anonymise it. You can ask us to delete your account.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures — including hashed passwords, hashed session tokens, encrypted transport (HTTPS), and access controls — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe.

We keep cookie use to a minimum. SkillJag sets a single essential cookie (sj_session) to keep you signed in after you log in — it's required for the site to work and can't be switched off.

We do not use advertising, marketing, or third-party analytics cookies, and we don't track you across other websites. Your browser may also store an offline cache of pages you've visited so SkillJag works as an installable app — that stays on your device and isn't used to identify you.

Because we only use strictly-necessary cookies, we don't show a cookie-consent banner. If we ever introduce analytics or similar non-essential cookies, we'll ask for your consent first.

Subject to the DPDP Act, you may:

• access and correct your personal data;
• ask us to erase it;
• withdraw consent (for example, to WhatsApp alerts);
• raise a grievance about how we handle your data.

SkillJag is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this policy and will post the revised version here with a new date. Significant changes will be highlighted where practical.
